Pest Control Marketing – They made ME an offer I couldn’t refuse

This week’s pest control marketing article is a continuation of what I discussed last week, regarding “Make’em an offer they can’t refuse.”

I just bought my wife Lynn a new 2014 Ford Explorer.  Her old one was ten years old and in need of major surgery so we decided it was time to trade it in.

Because I owned and operated a pest control business for 18 years, I’ve bought lots of vehicles…mostly Ford Rangers and F-150s.   I think I know how to buy one.  I’d usually buy it over the phone and have it delivered to my office and sign the paperwork there.  And I always did my homework to make sure I was getting the best price too.

I’d never just walk into a dealership and leave with a new vehicle.  It just wasn’t my style.  I like to play the cat & mouse game with them at first.   I’d leave and wait a few days to see if they’d call me with a better price. In the meantime I’m calling other dealerships to make comparisons.

And so, on Sunday afternoon, we drove over to the local Ford dealership to check out the new Explorers.  And just like clockwork, this gentleman (salesman) walks up to us and introduces himself and the sales process begins!

We found a vehicle that was just what we were looking for and he let Lynn drive it.   Then we went inside to talk. That’s the part Lynn hates, so she waited in the reception area with the wide-screen TV and the popcorn dispenser.

To make a long story short…I ended up buying that vehicle and we drove it home.

The salesman simply did what I’m always telling YOU to do.   And that is…he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.

When he first showed me his price, I told him I’d have to get back with him later.

I said, “I’m going to shop around and see who will give me the best price.”

And that’s when he did it…he asked me the big question, “Mr. Coleman, what would it take for you to drive home in that vehicle today?”

To which I replied, “Make me an offer I can’t refuse.”

And to my surprise…he did!

Bottom line: If someone calls you or enters your place of business to find out about your product or service, they are telling you that they want to buy…and are, at least to some degree, considering buying from YOU.

So it is YOUR job to make it easy for them.  And the best way to do that is to simply make’em an offer they can’t refuse.

Trust me…it works!

Thanks again for reading my articles, and I hope you have a great day,
