Pest Control Marketing – Video Marketing for Pest Control on YouTube

Does your pest control marketing program include using videos on YouTube?

I’m not referring to expensive videos shot by a professional videographer that you paid a fortune to have produced. I’m referring to simple 1-2 minute videos that you shoot, edit, produce with your iPhone and upload to YouTube yourself.

YouTube is a monster search engine. It is searched almost…some say more…than Google…especially when people are trying to find a home service business such as pest control to do business with.

YouTube videos can bring a ton of new customers and new business to your door…but there are some things you need to know in order to make it work effectively as a marketing tool.

And one of those things is this: You must have searchable titles for your videos!
Without searchable titles nobody will find your videos. And…if nobody finds them…they won’t do you much good when it comes to harvesting new customers.

Example: I had a client awhile back who have over 300 videos on YouTube.

Great, right?

Well…not necessarily. He told me that he was getting very little business from the internet.

I looked at a lot of his videos and…they were GREAT VIDEOS. But there was one big problem…his videos had poor titles that did not relate to what people were searching for when trying to find a pest control company to do business with. YIKES!

So…I immediately gave him the task of re-titling all of his videos. I explained how he should use titles that people search for when trying to find help with a pest problem.
It took him a few days to accomplish this. I’m sure it was a terribly boring, tedious job that he would rather not have had to do. But he did it. And guess what happened.

Almost immediately the phone started ringing and he began signing up new customers! (He actually told me that one suggestion had made his investment in my coaching well worth the price)

Just because you have videos it does NOT mean you will get much business from them.

But…if you do the following…it will dramatically increase the number of phone calls you get from your viewers.

  • • YOU need to be the face on the videos. People like to do business with people…not businesses or corporation. So make your videos PERSONAL!• Identify yourself on the video. Introduce yourself and tell who you are. And put your name and the name of your company across the lower third of the screen!
    • Have proper searchable titles. If no one can find you…they won’t be calling you!
    • Have an offer on your video of something FREE…such as FREE Consultation and FREE Estimates!
    • Have a specific CALL TO ACTION. This should appear in the video across the lower third of the screen as you are talking. Verbally say, “Call Today for a free consultation and free estimate. Say your phone number and display it in the lower third text!
    • Thank the viewer for watching the video!
    • Make sure to smile BIG…especially at the beginning and end of your videos!
    • Be entertaining!
    • Videos should be 1-2 minutes! (Very few people will watch a 5 – 10 minute video)
    • Put your website URL, phone number, offer of FREE Consultation and FREE Estimates in the description box. Put your CALL TO ACTION in the description box as well.

There are other things you can do to increase your conversion percentages but these are the most important ones to consider.

And here’s the best part…creating videos and uploading them to the internet is FREE! All it costs you is a small amount of time.

So…if you’re not using videos as part of your pest control marketing…you are missing out on a very powerful, predictable, effective…and PROFITABLE way to grow your business. And that is a FACT!

Pest Control Marketing – The TRUE and SIMPLE Secret to Success

                         The TRUE…and SIMPLE…Secret to Success!
Successful pest control marketing is not about doing any one big thing…it is about doing a thousand little things…and doing them all CORRECTLY.

If you’ve been a follower of mine for any length of time you’ve heard me say that more than once.Successful marketing of any business relies on creating successful campaigns and strategies that PROVE to be money makers…and then creating more of them.

Successful ad campaigns are like little money machines that always give you back more money than you put in.

The problem is…the vast majority of small business owners don’t know how to build the machines. So, they hire other people to build them for them. And the people they hire don’t know how to build them either. At least not the ones that really pay off big. And some of them don’t pay off at all. They break even at best.

We’ve all heard it said that, “You have to spend money to make money”. And that’s true…up to a point. But, by learning how the buyer’s mind really works and learning how to speak to it directly…you can make a lot of money by spending a little bit of money.

Another big problem with small business owners…including PCOs is this: They are AFRAID!

What are they afraid of?

Many things!

They are afraid of…
• Failure
• The unknown
• Being embarrassed
• Being criticized
• Trying new things
• Success (Yes…the thought of having more responsibilities, more employees, more vehicles, a bigger building, more clients, etc. literally scares the hell out of some people!)

But…the number one fear that almost ever person has…whether they are in business or not is…fear of POVERTY. And that is the reason many people are afraid of all of the above bullet points. In one way or another they can all be traced back to fear of poverty.

Even when we see people putting a dollar bill into a little machine and getting back two dollars…we are still reluctant to put one of our own dollars in the machine. The FEAR VOICE in our head says to us, “What if it doesn’t work this time. I’ll lose my dollar!”

And we listen to that voice…and we lose another great opportunity to find more success.

Sad but true.

There’s another old saying that goes something like this: “If you want to be successful simply watch what successful people do and go do it! If you want to fail, simply watch what failures do and go do it!”

Successful people tend to do the following:
• They work hard.
• They have a vision and a goal.
• They seek knowledge and better ways to do things.
• They read self-help books.
• They study business.
• They learn how to sell.
• They seek advice and counsel.
• They have mentors and coaches.
• They aren’t afraid to fail.
• They never give up.
• They always follow up.
• They maintain a positive mental attitude…even when things aren’t going well.
• They aren’t afraid to try new things.
• They accept responsibility for their failures and tend to give others credit for their successes.

Unsuccessful people tend to do the following:
• They tend to be lazy.
• They have no clear vision.
• They don’t set goals.
• They don’t read the right books.
• They don’t seek advice and knowledge from others (because they think they already know it all).
• They are deathly afraid to fail at anything…so they don’t try or risk anything.
• They are quick to throw in the towel and quit when something goes wrong.
• They have a negative mental attitude.
• They are afraid to try new things.
• They claim full responsibility for their successes and blame others for their failures.

Success in any small business…including pest control…is not rocket science. It is not brain surgery. It is a very simple thing to achieve…if you know how to do it. They problem with most people who start up a new business…whether online or brick & mortar…is that they DON’T know how to do it. And that is why 82% of them are gone by the end of the third year!

The best advice I can give you on how to create a GROWING, THRIVING, FUN…AND PROFITABLE business that practically runs itself is to simply learn how to do it. I don’t mean to sound flippant with that statement, but it really is as simple as that.

Things you should start doing NOW include…
• Seek out successful people who are ready and willing to help you.
• Become a student of business, both online and offline.
• Learn how to sell.
• Learn to navigate the internet.
• Learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable.
• Spend more time working ON your business and less time working IN your business.
• Learn to delegate.
• Hire people who are strong in the things YOU are weak in.
• Spend LOTS OF TIME on self- improvement and building a better YOU.

All of this might sound complicated and a little overwhelming…but it’s not. You eat an elephant one bite at a time. You get better at things by practicing them and doing them…one day at a time.

Pest Control Marketing Tip # 91

What I learned selling Christmas trees will help YOU sell more termite and pest control jobs…or anything else you want to sell!

Years ago I had a small part-time business selling Christmas trees. My cousin Brad and I would set up our Christmas tree stand on a vacant lot and, for 3 weeks prior to Christmas Day, we sold as many trees as we could. It was fast and furious.

When you sell Christmas trees, you have to make your money quickly. If you screw up, the holidays are over and you end up with a lot of trees left over.  You have to time everything just right or you can lose a ton of money quickly. But if you do it right…you can walk away with a hefty profit.

I learned some valuable sales lessons while selling Christmas trees.

Probably the most important thing I learned was this: You have to strike while the iron is hot!

When someone is looking at a particular tree, you must make them an offer they can’t refuse. If you don’t they will walk away and you will lose the sale.

Many times we would hear this statement: “I really love this tree. It is the perfect tree for us. But, we have just begun to shop and we want to visit a few more tree lots. I will come back later and purchase this tree because it is exactly what I have in mind.  So, please hold it for me and I’ll be back and pay you later.”

And then you never see or hear from them again.

Here’s what happens. They visit a couple more tree lots and then they get tired and bored. The kids start to whine.  They get tired.  So they just buy a tree and go home.  They run out of steam and enthusiasm.   By the time they get home, they have totally forgotten about YOU and the tree YOU showed them.  They are perfectly content with the one they have and now all of the focus is on getting it decorated.

You had your shot and you blew it. NO SALE!

So…we learned quickly that, if they left our tree lot, we would never see them again. We had to make a great, emotional sales pitch along with an offer they couldn’t refuse.

No matter what you’re selling, if you let a hot prospect walk away, your chances of closing the deal with them are greatly reduced.   They begin to over-think things and get all kinds of input and suggestions from other people and they become confused. Cognitive dissonance sets in they can’t make a decision.

It’s the same if you let them hang up the telephone without closing the deal.

Bottom line:  Give your prospects as much valuable information about your product/service as you can.  Show them the facts. Differentiate yourself from your competition. They must clearly see how purchasing your product will benefit them.  And you must give them a solid reason why it would benefit them to purchase it NOW.

It is up to YOU to make it incredibly easy for THEM to make the decision to buy from you.

If you will do this, you will close more deals and get more new customers. I guarantee it!

Pest control marketing strategies to help YOU grow your business much faster

Pest control marketing is not magic. It is, however, a mystery to most PCOs and WCOs.

Now, I’m not referring to basic, cookie cutter, conventional marketing and advertising. I want to make that clear. We all know what those are. After all, we see these strategies and ideas at play everyday when we look at our competition. And they do work…up to a point. If you want to grow your business 5, 10 or 15% a year, then you will probably be able to make that happen by following conventional marketing wisdom.

But…there is a level of sophisticated, neuro-scientific, psychological marketing that very few business owners…and “MARKETING EXPERTS”… are aware of or have a clue about.

FACT:  There are no magic pills when it comes to marketing. There is no medication called “CHANGE-ATOL” that will change it all!

Successful marketing is not any one big thing…it is as thousand little ones…and all done CORRECTLY. You can’t create a fast moving marketing machine overnight.

To successfully grow a profitable and thriving business, it takes a combination of the following: 

  • Time
  • Education
  • Dedication
  • Focus
  • Hard Work
  • Commitment
  • Perseverance

If you ignore or lack any one of the above, you will struggle and never reach your full potential as a business owner.

But…if you DO possess those qualities and traits listed above…then all you need is ACCURATE INFORMATION. Your ability to act on the follow through with accurate information is the KEY to achieving your vision, dreams and goals!

It really comes down to the 80/20 rule.

  1. 80% of business owners can acquire the accurate information and see how beneficial it is…but they just never get around to acting on very much of it.

  3. The remaining 10% are the ones that are truly successful. They get the information in their hands and use it to grow their businesses, make more money, and create a great retirement and future for themselves and their families.

Pest Control Marketing – This will make you want to throw up!

Pest Control Marketing Tip # 239 – The High Cost of Wasted Time

If you own a small business…or even if you don’t…here’s something that might interest you. It might also make you want to throw up, so don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Let’s assume you have an employee who wastes one hour on the job each day. Or, it could be YOU who wastes one hour a day. You know…personal telephone calls, smoke breaks, water cooler conversations, swapping  jokes, surfing the internet…or simply staring out the window and daydreaming  from time to time.

There is an average of 250 work days in a year. And, if an employee (or YOU) wastes one hour each day, that comes out to 250 hours wasted per year.

Are you with me so far? Good.

Based on a 40 hour work week, that comes out to over SIX WEEKS WASTED PER YEAR!!!

Holy smokes! If you have 8 employees and you pay them each an average of $35,000.00/yr. and they each waste one hour a day, that means you are paying for 2000 hours of wasted time. That’s the same as paying $35,000.00 a year for a 9th employee who doesn’t even exist.  It is $35,000.00 down the toilet for NOTHING!

Bottom line:  The amount of lost production and lost revenues due to poor time management…i.e. wasted time…in any business…is absolutely staggering.

So, the next time you see one of your employees wasting time…or you find yourself wasting time…just think of these numbers and remind someone that, as long as they are on the clock, you expect them to be working and producing.

After all, that’s what you pay them…and yourself… to do.

Right?

But, the BEST way you can learn how to grow your business is to find and hire a great coach who can teach you and hold you accountable.  Someone who has not only the credentials…but a long list of happy clients/students who can attest to the effectiveness of the program.

Just as in sports, a great coach is indispensable. A great coach will take you to higher levels of performance that you could ever achieve on your own. And a great coach will hold you accountable to do the things you should do and keep you on track and moving toward your ultimate goal!

Just as in sports, if you want to break through and achieve your personal best IN BUSINESS…you need to consider finding and hiring a great coach to help get you there.

A great coach will be the best investment you will ever make in your business!

And that is a FACT.
